The Spiritual Crisis Network (SCN) is a non-profit company limited by guarantee and registered in England no. 06755641. Our registered office and correspondence address: c/o 38 Market Street, Hoylake, Wirral CH47 2AF .

The SCN treats all of your personal information as confidential. The only circumstances in which we would breach confidentiality are if a child or vulnerable adult were at risk of harm or if we were legally obliged to do so. What type of information we have

We currently collect and process the following information:

  • Contact details, character references, and DBS checks.

  • Physical and mental health information.

  • Information on spiritual and religious beliefs and philosophies.

  • Financial information.

  • The SCN does not work with children under the age of 18 years old.

How we get the information and why we have it

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  1. 1)  For purposes of volunteer training and administration.

  2. 2)  In order to attend or participate at one of our events.

  3. 3)  To receive support and information related to spiritual and mental

    health and well-being.

  4. 4)  To make donations or become a Friend of the SCN.

  5. 5)  To produce anonymous statistical data to monitor and evaluate our

    services.

  6. 6)  To undertake research into spirituality and mental health.

We also receive personal information indirectly, from the following sources in the following scenarios:

• Character references and DBS checks for our volunteers (including Directors).

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

We are a not-for-profit body relying on Legitimate Interests to process your data for purposes 1 – 5 above.

For purpose 6 (research) we will always ask for your explicit consent to process your data for this particular purpose. Opting out of this purpose will not affect your access to any other service offered by the SCN. You are able to remove your consent at any time. What we do with the information we have

We use the information that you have given us in order to:

  • Organise and manage volunteer training and activities.

  • Organise training and awareness sessions, conferences, and other

    events.

  • Provide support and information related to spiritual and mental health

    and well-being.

  • Receive financial donations.

  • Monitor and evaluate our services.

  • Undertake research into spirituality and mental health.

We share this information with:

  • Our volunteers (including Directors) who provide the service.

  • Researchers studying spiritual and mental health and well-being. All of our volunteers are required to sign a Non-Disclosure Agreement

    (confidentiality form) before accessing any personal data.

    How we store your information

    Your information is securely stored online.

    We keep your emails for 6 years after you last contacted us. We will then dispose of your information by deleting your emails and our responses.

    We may keep your data for longer than this if you have kindly provided us with permission to use it for research purposes.

    We keep your financial details for 7 years after you last contacted us.

    Your data protection rights

    Under data protection law, you have rights including:

    Your right of access - You have the right to ask us for copies of your personal information.

    Your right to rectification - You have the right to ask us to rectify information you think is inaccurate. You also have the right to ask us to complete information you think is incomplete.

    Your right to erasure - You have the right to ask us to erase your personal information in certain circumstances.

    Your right to restriction of processing - You have the right to ask us to restrict the processing of your information in certain circumstances.

    Your right to object to processing - You have the the right to object to the processing of your personal data in certain circumstances.

    Your right to data portability - You have the right to ask that we transfer the information you gave us to another organisation, or to you, in certain circumstances.

    You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
